Since a while ago, Firefox 3 Beta has been available for developments and tests. As a Firefox fan myself, I downloaded the beta of course. “Less memory”, as it’s been described, okay, it was improved. However, none of the extensions worked properly with the unstable version.
Why bother using Firefox 3 Beta when a release candidate just got released? Although this doesn’t guarantee full compatibility of the things used for Firefox 2, it sure did improve.

…and the most importantly, “Improved Performance”
- Speed: improvements to our JavaScript engine as well as profile guided optimizations have resulted in continued improvements in performance. Compared to Firefox 2, web applications like Google Mail and Zoho Office run twice as fast in Firefox 3, and the popular SunSpider test from Apple shows improvements over previous releases.
Memory usage: Several new technologies work together to reduce the amount of memory used by Firefox 3 over a web browsing session. Memory cycles are broken and collected by an automated cycle collector, a new memory allocator reduces fragmentation, hundreds of leaks have been fixed, and caching strategies have been tuned.
Reliability: A user’s bookmarks, history, cookies, and preferences are now stored in a transactionally secure database format which will prevent data loss even if their system crashes.

oyeahitzkevin, if I knew when the final would come out, I would’ve said it right?
It’ll come out soon enough, =) |

I like the build a lot, but somehow it crashes quite often on my Vista machine when opening a few sites altogether :{ |

Michael Aulia, Vista’s incompatible with so much things unfortunately. Firefox 3 itself is nice in overall, yet still lacks compatibility with older extensions and the history wouldn’t clear even if I delete them. So I decided to use Firefox 2 as of now, until its final build is released. Oh well, it’s still good enough.

ITS FAST!!!!!!
of course…how much longer before the full version comes out?
